Chhattisgarh is setting new records in the field of health and nutrition

Raipur: In last four years, remarkable works have been done in various sectors of Chhattisgarh, especially health and nurtition. Recently, the state government has approved the inclusion of millet dishes in the mid-day meal for school children. ‘Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan’ has yielded tremendous results in terms of eradicating malnutrition in children and anemia in adolescent girls and women. After this campaign, there has been a significant decline of 48 per cent in malnutrition among children.
Chhattisgarh government is taking consistent strategic steps in the field of health and nutrition. Innovative schemes of the state government such as Mukhyamantri Haat Bazar Clinic, Dai-Didi Clinic, Mukhyamantri Slum Swasthy Yojana, Hamar Lab, Malaria-free Bastar and Malaria-free Chhattisgarh scheme have considerably improved the quality and accesibility of healthcare facilities in rural and urban areas. People in Chhattisgarh are being provided the treatment facility of up to Rs 5 lakh under Dr. Khoobchand Baghel Swasthya Sahayata Yojana. On the other hand, treatment facility up to Rs 20 lakh is available under Chief Minister’s Special Health Scheme.
According to the statistics of the Vazan Tyohar, when Mukhyamantri Suposhan Yojana was commenced, there were about 4.33 lakh malnourished children in the state. So far, more than 2.65 lakh children have been freed from malnutrition in the state. In this way, the number of malnourished children in the state has decreased by 48 per cent. In the last four years, malnutrition rate in the state has declined by 5.61 per cent. According to the National Family Health Survey-5, the percentage of malnutrition in the state is 31.3, which is less than the national average of 32.1 percent. So far 1.50 lakh women have become free from anaemia. Under this scheme iron, folic acid, deworming tablets are being provided to the anemic females.
According to the Champion of Change Delta ranking released for December 2022 in the Aspirational Districts report by NITI Aayog, Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh has performed better than most of the aspirational districts of the country. Among 112 aspirational districts of the country, Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh ranks fourth in the overall performance category and third in the health and nutrition category. It is a major national-level achievement of Narayanpur district for the state of Chhattisgarh.
