Nine Killed, Nine Injured in Two Road Accidents in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Nine people lost their lives, and nine others were injured in two separate road accidents in Mahasamund and Bemetara districts of Chhattisgarh on Thursday, police officials said.
Six Killed in Mahasamund Collision
A head-on collision between a car and a truck near Omkarband and Khallari villages around 3:30 PM claimed six lives and left one person injured.
The car was traveling from Mahasamund to Bagbahara, while the truck was coming from the opposite direction. Four car occupants died on the spot, while the driver and another passenger succumbed to their injuries at a nearby hospital. The truck driver was also injured.
The deceased have been identified as Tahar Singh Thakur, an inspector with the state revenue department posted in Pithora, his wife Vindeshwari Thakur (50), and their daughters Tripti Thakur (25), Vaibhavi Thakur (20), and Sarojani Thakur.
Three Dead, Eight Injured in Bemetara Accident
In another accident, an SUV skidded off the road and plunged into a dry canal on National Highway-30 under City Kotwali police station limits, killing three people, including a woman and her daughter, and injuring eight others.
The victims were traveling from Raipur to their native village, Marka, in Kabirdham district to celebrate Holi when the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle. Khushbu Vaishnav, her daughter Sakshi Vaishnav, and Kamal Chakradhari died in the accident.
The eight injured, including two women and five children, were shifted to Raipur for treatment, police said.
