Nearly four dozen people rescued after fire breaks out at Raipur’s Babylon Hotel, no casualties reported

Raipur – A fire broke out at the Babylon Hotel in Raipur on Tuesday night, with a short circuit suspected to be the cause. Forty-seven people trapped inside the seven-storey building were safely rescued by fire and police personnel. The incident occurred in the Telibandha police station area.
The fire reportedly started on the first floor from an electrical cable and quickly spread up to the seventh floor. Authorities, including the Superintendent of Police and the District Collector, reached the spot to oversee rescue operations.
According to people who were rescued, they were on the verge of breaking windows and jumping out due to the thick smoke before the rescue teams arrived. The building’s power supply was immediately cut off.
District Collector Dr Gaurav Singh confirmed that all the people were safely rescued and no casualties were reported. He said a detailed investigation would be conducted to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
