Naxals’ camp busted in Chhattisgarh, Rs 16.5 lakh recovered

RAIPUR
A joint team of security forces has busted a Maoist camp in the dense forests of Gariaband district, recovering a large cache of arms, ammunition, and other materials, including ₹16.5 lakh in cash.

The operation was conducted on Sunday by a joint team comprising personnel from the Dhamtari Police, Gariaband Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and CoBRA unit. The forces were on a search and cordon operation in the Bade Gobra forest area under the Mainpur police station limits when they encountered a group of armed Maoists.

The Maoists, who were camping in the hilly terrain, opened indiscriminate fire on the approaching security personnel. The forces retaliated in self-defence, forcing the Naxals to flee into the forest.

Following the gunfight, the security team conducted a search of the area and recovered the cash, a laptop, electronic devices, and a significant amount of Naxalite material. Among the seized items were four country-made BGLs, one hand grenade, two sets of Naxal uniforms, two Samsung mobile phones, a Kindle e-reader, a Panasonic radio, and various rounds of ammunition. Additionally, a tiffin bomb, 15 gelatin rods, 50 electronic detonators, and other items used for making explosives were also found.

A case has been registered at the Mainpur police station, and an investigation is underway.
