MP Brijmohan Agrawal says Nakatikala village will not be demolished

Raipur
BJP MP Brijmohan Agrawal has assured residents of Nakatikala village in Raipur that their homes will not be demolished for the proposed MLA Colony project. He said he has directed district officials not to evict anyone, adding that the colony can be developed without displacing a single resident.
Talking to media, Agrawal said this issue had surfaced about seven years ago, and even then, he had intervened to save the village. “A couple of days ago, some villagers met me, and I assured them that their houses will not be demolished,” he said.
According to Agrawal, around 15 homes in the village have already been constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). “I have told officials not to remove anyone. With 17 acres currently available for the MLA Colony, it can be developed without displacing any villagers,” he emphasized.
Nakatikala village has around 80 semi-permanent and permanent structures inhabited by approximately 300 people, mostly from the Sahu, Yadav, and Satnami communities. These residents are engaged in farming and labor work. Children from the area go to school, while many women and children are currently participating in a protest against the demolition.
The District Administration had issued notices to 85 families, alleging illegal encroachment on 15.4790 hectares of land, recorded under Khasra number 460 in Patwari Halka No. 77. The notice references an eviction order passed under Section 248 of the Chhattisgarh Land Revenue Code, 1959, dated April 11, 2025, with instructions for residents to vacate the land and inform the court by April 28.
However, due to strong resistance from villagers, the administration has not taken any action so far.
According to village sarpanch Bihari Lal Yadav, 25 houses under PMAY have been sanctioned, of which 15 have already been constructed, and the rest are under progress. Despite this, the administration has issued notices to clear the village, treating all structures as encroachments.
As the situation develops, tensions remain high between residents and the authorities, while MP Brijmohan Agrawal’s intervention has given villagers a renewed hope of retaining their homes.
