Misconduct caught on camera: Traffic inspector suspended for beating and abusing woman in Raipur hostel
Raipur: A video of a police inspector from Raipur misbehaving with a tribal girl at a girls’ hostel has gone viral. In the video, the inspector can be seen misbehaving with the woman, and beating her. A complaint was made before SSP and IG of Raipur. Following this, the SSP suspended the inspector. The incident took place in the Devendra Nagar area of the city.
The hostel operator had demanded action against the inspector. The woman who runs the private hostel in Devendra Nagar said she hails from Ambikapur. She started the girls’ hostel by renting property in Devendra Nagar. On Friday, seeing the board outside, the police inspector came inside in an intoxicated condition. He started beating the tribal woman staff sitting at the reception, saying “you are doing business here, show me the girls.” After this, he forcibly entered inside and also abused us.
As per sources the traffic inspector who misbehaved with the tribal woman in Raipur is Rakesh Choubey, who is currently posted at the Traffic Headquarters in Raipur. He had entered the hostel on Friday. When he misbehaved with the woman at the hostel, the incident was captured on CCTV. The hostel manager stated that Inspector Choubey also caused damage to the hostel. He was also heard using obscene language and making caste-based slurs.
When the case of the inspector’s misconduct came to light, Raipur SSP Prashant Agrawal took action. He issued an order suspending Rakesh from the Traffic Headquarters and attaching him to a line. Departmental action will also be taken against him now.
