Raipur: The Telibandha police have arrested a man for allegedly molesting a 28-year-old woman and assaulting her husband outside a club on VIP Road. Two other individuals have also been booked for allegedly threatening the survivor to withdraw her complaint.
According to the complaint, the incident took place on 8 April 2026 when the survivor had gone to Hyper Club with her husband and friends for dinner. While leaving the premises, the accused allegedly held her hand with wrongful intent and passed lewd remarks. When she resisted, he began abusing her and later physically assaulted her husband when he intervened.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Crime Number 167/2026 and invoked Sections 296 and 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
During the investigation, the police identified and arrested the accused, Pawan Singh Baghel (38), a resident of Pahadi Para, Adarsh Nagar, Gudhiyari.
In a related development, two individuals — Jyotiraditya Singh Rajput (28) and Satyendra Kumar Singh (36) — allegedly tried to pressure and threaten the survivor to withdraw the case. Police have taken preventive action against them under Sections 170, 126, and 135(3)(1) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
The police stated that further investigation is ongoing.
