Jogi gets major relief as SC dismisses pleas by Chhattisgarh, Satish Jaggi

Raipur
The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted major legal relief to Amit Jogi, dismissing all petitions filed by the State of Chhattisgarh and Satish Jaggi that challenged his acquittal in the Jaggi murder case. The court’s judgement reaffirmed Jogi’s clean chit in the long-pending case.
The application filed by Satish Jaggi for converting his revision petition into an appeal against acquittal is dismissed.
The High Court must consider the CBI’s application for condonation of delay in filing an appeal against acquittal. The High Court is directed to take this up on merit after giving a proper hearing to Amit Jogi.
The Supreme Court’s ruling fully upholds the previous judgement of the Chhattisgarh High Court, which had dismissed all four petitions filed against Jogi’s acquittal by the State of Chhattisgarh, the CBI, and Satish Jaggi. The apex court has affirmed the High Court’s decision concerning the State and Jaggi.
Reacting to the decision, Amit Jogi called the judgement “A historic victory for justice.”
“The Supreme Court’s verdict has not only reaffirmed my innocence but also established my faith in the Indian judicial system,” Jogi stated. “This decision proves that truth and justice ultimately prevail. I express my deep gratitude to my family, friends, and my legal team who supported me throughout this long legal battle.”
The trial court had acquitted Jogi completely in 2005 in the Jaggi murder case. Following this, the State of Chhattisgarh and the CBI filed two appeals, and Satish Jaggi filed a revision petition along with an application to convert it into an appeal. The Chhattisgarh High Court had dismissed all four challenges before the matter reached the Supreme Court.
