Jaggi Murder Case File Reopened : High Court Begins Hearing; Amit Jogi and Satish Jaggi Summoned

Raipur: The file on the sensational murder of NCP leader Ramavatar Jaggi in Chhattisgarh has been reopened once again. Following Supreme Court directives, hearings have commenced at the Chhattisgarh High Court. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Arvind Kumar Verma has issued notices to Satish Jaggi and prime accused Amit Jogi in the Jaggi murder case, directing them to appear in court with their lawyers. The responsibility for serving these notices has been assigned to the Raipur SP.

Petitioner Satish Jaggi’s advocate BP Sharma informed the high court division bench that the Supreme Court has remanded the case back to the Bilaspur High Court for reconsideration. Counsel for the CBI Vaibhav A Govardhan and Deputy Advocate General Dr. Saurabh Pandey jointly submitted that the state had filed an application on May 31, 2007, seeking permission to appeal the lower court’s acquittal order. However, the high court’s coordination bench rejected this on August 18, 2011, ruling that the state’s application for appeal permission was not maintainable amid the ongoing CBI investigation.

CBI Petition Dismissed by High Court
The CBI had filed a petition challenging the May 31, 2007 decision and order. The high court’s coordination bench dismissed it on September 12, 2011, citing delays. Additionally, a petition by complainant Satish Jaggi—seeking to convert a review petition against Amit Jogi and Aishwarya Jogi’s acquittal into a criminal appeal—was rejected on September 19, 2011.

Satish Jaggi Filed Petition in Supreme Court
Challenging the high court’s orders of August 18, September 12, and September 19, 2011, both Satish Jaggi and the CBI approached the Supreme Court. After hearing the petitions, the apex court, in its November 6, 2025 order, condoned the delay in filing.
