An IED blast took place in the Putkel forest under Basaguda police station in a Naxal-affected Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. The incident occurred early this morning. According to police sources, a joint force of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 229 and Cobra had set out from Putkel camp on an area domination duty. During the search operation, a pressure IED planted by Naxals exploded, injuring two jawans.
Bijapur police officials informed that the injured constables of Cobra 206th Battalion, Mridul Barman and Mohammad Ishaq, were taken to Basaguda CRPF camp for treatment. Both were given first aid and are out of danger. Both the jawans have been referred to a hospital in the state capital Raipur for better treatment.
Since the beginning of 2025, incidents of IED blasts have been reported from various Naxal-affected districts of Bastar division. On Monday, a 10-year-old girl was seriously injured in Sukma after accidentally stepping on an IED while playing. Earlier on Saturday, a jawan on area domination duty in Bijapur stepped on an IED and was seriously injured. The jawan was airlifted to Raipur for treatment.
