History-sheeter Rohit Tomar arrested in 6-year-old case

Raipur
Raipur police arrested notorious history-sheeter Rohit Tomar in connection with a 2019 case. The Kotwali police executed a permanent arrest warrant issued by the court and sent the accused to judicial custody.
Tomar faces several serious criminal charges, including assault and extortion. According to the police, the accused had been absconding for a long time. He is booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Sections 327, 384 and 506. These cases involve allegations of life threats, physical assault, extortion and mental harassment.
The Kotwali police were tracking Tomar based on the permanent warrant issued by the court.
Supreme Court stay in Telibandha case
The Supreme Court has stayed Tomar’s arrest in a separate assault case registered at the Telibandha police station. The accused returned to Raipur with the court order after remaining at large for over six months. While the police did not arrest him in the Telibandha matter due to the stay, they executed the pending warrant from the Kotwali police station on Monday.
Habitual offender
This is not the first instance of police action against Tomar. He has been booked in over half a dozen cases previously. The Raipur police had earlier paraded him in public following his involvement in the Hyper Club shooting incident before sending him to jail. After that incident, the accused was involved in another assault in 2025 and evaded the police for six months.
