Police are searching for a history-sheeter who allegedly assaulted a man, coerced him into apologising by kissing his wife’s feet, and threatened him with a pistol in the Civil Lines police station area of Raipur. The entire assault was reportedly filmed by the accused.
The incident occurred near the cremation ground in New Shanti Nagar. The video, which has surfaced online, shows a man identified as Vicky Khochar brutally attacking the victim, Ranu Singh. A woman and several other men joined Khochar in the assault, using sticks and an iron rod to beat Singh.
The victim repeatedly pleaded for forgiveness as the assailants abused and thrashed him. The woman, identified as Khochar’s wife, also took part in the beating.
Sources indicate the assault was over suspicion that the victim had tipped off the police. In the video, the accused Vicky Khochar is heard confronting the victim, asking why he took his name at the police station. Khochar is also seen threatening Singh with a pistol tucked into his waistband, boasting about his criminal history and claiming he is untouchable. As a final act of humiliation, Khochar allegedly forced the victim to kiss his wife’s feet to apologise.
Police are aware of the viral video and have initiated an investigation.
“We are identifying all the accused visible in the video. An FIR will be registered, and all those involved will be arrested soon,” said a police official.
Preliminary checks confirm Vicky Khochar is a history-sheeter with multiple cases of assault and criminal intimidation filed against him. The accused is absconding and search operations are underway.
