The Special ED Court Judge Ajay Singh Rajput rejected the anticipatory bail of Niranjan Das, former secretary of the Excise Department in Chhattisgarh government.
The promote IAS, who was on the post of Excise Secretary on contract, had been issued notice by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with liquor scam of Rs 2000 crore.
Income Tax Investigation Wing has filed a writ petition in District Sessions Court in Bhopal, capital of Madhya Pradesh, against Suryakant Tiwari, Soumya Chaurasia and others arrested by ED.
According to the Income Tax Act, there is an allegation of violation of income tax rules under Section 177 and section 181, 193, 196, 200, 420 and 120B.
It is worth mentioning that soon after the change of BJP government in Karnataka, the present Congress government has withdrawn FIRs filed by the Income Tax Department against the above mentioned people. Sources said that the ED is facing adverse situation in carrying out its action.
Its hearing is said to be held on July 18, 2023 in Bhopal District Sessions Court.
The ED is also now preparing to tighten its grip on the people caught by the Income Tax Investigation Department in the BJP-ruled state by taking another legal action against Suryakant and others.
