Respite for patients: Health workers call off strike in Chhattisgarh following Deputy CM Singhdeo’s intervention

Raipur In a much-needed respite for patients, health workers across the state, who had been observing strike, have called their strike on Sunday following a meeting with Deputy Chief Minister T S Singhdeo who also holds the health portfolio. The health workers were on an indefinite strike since July 4. The Deputy CM has reportedly assured to consider the demands of the health workers sympathetically and to put their views before the government. The Deputy CM appealed to the employees of the Health Department to return to work in the interest of the people. During the meeting with Singhdev, the delegation of Health Employees Union has also expressed its wish to meet Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Health Employees Union office bearers said that the indefinite protest was going on regarding 24-point demands including removal of pay discrepancy, regularization of contractual employees etc. The health services in the state were crippled due to the strike. While talking to the media in Raipur on the strike of health workers, Singhdeo had said that some demands are such that they cannot be fulfilled.
