ED posing threat to democracy, says Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel

Raipur Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has once again raised grave allegations against the Enforcement Directorate (ED). While en route to the Baloda Bazaar district on Sunday, the Chief Minister shared his concerns with the media. Prior to his departure, he asserted that the ED now poses a threat to democracy. Baghel underscored that since modifications were introduced to the ED’s governing regulations, they have been endowed with unchecked authority, enabling them to apprehend individuals as they see fit, often resulting in the detainees struggling to secure bail. He further noted instances of physical coercion during interrogation. In reference to actions taken against the gambling sector, Baghel conveyed that the state government has implemented various measures in response. He contrasted this with the perceived inaction from the central government. Baghel inquired about the persistent rise in Dr. Raman Singh’s assets and questioned the absence of ED’s investigation into the matter. Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Baghel claimed that nearly 72% of households in Chhattisgarh have access to sanitation facilities, implying that approximately 23-24% still lack proper sanitation. Paradoxically, despite this, the central government has designated the region as ODF+ (Open Defecation Free Plus). The Chief Minister alleged a significant scandal, attributing it to the central government. Shifting his focus to Raigarh, Baghel shed light on the allocation of coal mining rights to Adani for a span of 20 years. He candidly expressed that if the people of Chhattisgarh cast their votes for the BJP, it effectively entails entrusting the state’s future to Adani. Baghel emphasized the thorough preparations of the Congress Party for the upcoming elections, noting the organization of ‘Sankalp Shivir’ (Resolution Camps) in all constituencies to showcase their unwavering dedication to the electoral campaign.
