Raipur: The anticipated face of Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister is on the brink of revelation, as Dr. Raman Singh, the BJP National Vice President, has set a timeline of three days to finalize the decision. Observers are gearing up for a crucial meeting with legislators to pave the way for this much-anticipated announcement. In a surprising turn, three triumphant Members of Parliament, including Arun Sao and Gomti Sai, have tendered their resignations from the Lok Sabha.
Arun Sao, who secured victory in the assembly elections from the Lormi constituency, and Gomti Sai, the MP elected from the Pathalgaon Assembly seat, have stepped down from their respective positions. Notably, in the recent Assembly elections, BJP had four MPs in the fray, with only Vijay Baghel tasting defeat. Speculation abounds regarding an upcoming meeting among legislators on December 8, potentially culminating in the oath-taking ceremony slated for December 10.
Adding to the political landscape, Ramkumar Toppo, a first-time BJP legislator triumphant in the Sitapur Assembly seat, previously elusive for the BJP since independence, made a notable debut at the Assembly. Toppo attributed his win to the collective effort of the people, emphasizing, “It’s not about me, it’s the people who fought.”
Addressing Amarjeet Bhagat’s defeat, Toppo remarked that honoring commitments is crucial, suggesting Bhagat should refrain from shaving his mustache if a promise has been made.
Meanwhile, Ishwar Sahu, triumphant from the Saja seat, paid respects at the Assembly threshold upon arrival, marking his maiden presence in the Assembly.
In a move highlighting civic responsibility, former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh urged officials to steer clear of inappropriate actions. His communication highlighted reports of certain officials retroactively approving crucial files, advising them to maintain ethical conduct.
Furthermore, MP Vijay Baghel made a fresh plea to the Election Commission against Bhupesh Baghel, advocating for the cancellation of the latter’s candidature. Alleging violations of the Model Code of Conduct during Bhupesh Baghel’s tenure as CM, Vijay Baghel demanded a two-year sentence. Failing an inquiry by the commission, he hinted at legal recourse.
As discussions intensify, speculation looms large regarding the potential appointment of an Adivasi (tribal) Chief Minister from the designated quota. Renuka Singh, Vishnudev Sai, and Ramvichar Netam feature prominently among the top contenders. Notably, supporters have initiated ceremonial rituals advocating for Renuka Singh’s ascendancy to the CM’s position, purportedly aligning with PM Modi’s emphasis on women’s empowerment.
