AAP announces first list of candidates for Chhattisgarh elections, Party state president Komal Hupendi to lead the charge in Bhanupratappur

RaipurThe Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has unveiled its inaugural list of candidates for the upcoming Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly elections, slated for November this year. In a strategic move, AAP’s State President, Komal Hupendi, will be spearheading the party’s campaign from the Bhanupratappur constituency. After BJP released its first list containing 21 candidates, AAP has become the second political party to reveal its candidates.

The AAP has also revealed its candidates for other key constituencies, including Dantewada, Narayanpur, Akaltara, Korba, Rajim, Patthalgaon, Kawardha, Bhatgaon, and Kunkuri.

Komal Hupendi, who holds the position of State President within AAP, previously contested the legislative assembly elections from the Bhanupratappur constituency in 2018. Despite a spirited campaign, Hupendi secured third place, trailing behind candidates from the Congress and BJP, with a total of 9,634 votes. In the last election cycle, AAP contested on 85 seats across Chhattisgarh but faced a disappointing outcome, receiving less than one percent of the total votes cast. The 2018 legislative assembly elections witnessed a fervent campaign effort by AAP, with active involvement from Delhi government minister Gopal Rai and a campaign launch rally led by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at Science College Ground. However, the party’s candidates on all 85 seats lost their deposits, highlighting the challenges AAP faced in the state. With the release of this candidate list, AAP aims to renew its efforts and secure a stronger foothold in Chhattisgarh’s political landscape as it gears up for the upcoming elections.
