New medical colleges will open in the state next year in Kawardha, Janjgir-Champa, Manendragarh and Dantewada. The colleges will open under the centrally sponsored scheme. The central government will contribute 60% of the funds, while the state government will contribute 40%. A medical college will cost Rs 500 crore to build. In the last 22 years, the state has established ten government medical colleges. The addition of four new colleges will provide significant relief to students preparing for the NEET UG. Students throughout the state will benefit from new medical colleges in Kawardha, Janjgir-Champa, Manendragarh, and Dantewada.
There will be 100 seats each in the four colleges, increasing the MBBS seats by 400 next year. Opening colleges in these four areas will benefit the students. NEET-qualified students who fall short of some admission requirements will get admission.
Presently, there are 1570 MBBS seats in 9 government and three private medical colleges in the state. Apart from Raipur, there are government medical colleges in Bilaspur, Raigarh, Ambikapur, Korba, Rajnandgaon, Mahasamund, Kanker, Jagdalpur and Durg. The admission process in these colleges is going to start soon. The Medical Education Department will soon open the portal for admission. NEET UG-qualified students can register online.
The new college building in Kawardha will have approximately 40 acres of land. The district hospital is now becoming a medical college. The search for new college locations in Janjgir-Champa, Manendragarh, and Dantewa will soon begin.
Kawardha– The opening of a new college in Kawardha will strengthen the health sector. Kawardha currently has medical colleges in Rajnandgaon and Bilaspur.
Janjgir-Champa– The district does not have a single medical college. People depend on Bilaspur for treatment and education. NEET-qualified students will benefit from the opening of the college.
Manendragarh– Recently, this new district has been formed. The facilities will increase with the opening of medical colleges. Students will get another new option for medical studies.
Dantewada– With the opening of the college, not only Bijapur but the people of the Sukma district will also get relief. Presently, the college serves only Jagdalpur and Kanker in the Bastar division.
