Chhattisgarh facilitated for having achieved 100 per cent functional health and wellness centers ahead of time
Raipur: Chhattisgarh was honored by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for achieving 100 per cent target of making health and wellness centers functional before the deadline. Union health minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath presented the certificate to Chhattisgarh for this achievement in a programme organized in Varanasi on Universal Health Coverage Day.
Chhattisgarh has functionalized more centers than the target set for the operation of health and wellness centers till December-2022. Chhattisgarh had got a target to upgrade a total of 4825 Primary Health Centers, Sub Health Centers and Urban Health Centers and operate them as Health and Wellness Centers. At present, 62 more than this target i.e. 4887 centers are being operated in the state.
Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel and health minister TS Singh Deo has congratulated the Health Department and National Health Mission, Chhattisgarh for this commendable work and achievement. While patting the back of the departmental team engaged in this, he expressed hope that soon all the selected health centers in the state would be upgraded as Health and Wellness Centers. Dr. Poonam Sisodia, Joint Director, Health and Family Welfare Department, Surguja Division, received this honor on behalf of Chhattisgarh in Varanasi.
12 types of facilities are available in the Health and Wellness Center
Pre-natal care and delivery, newborn child health and immunization, family planning and reproductive health, national health program, and communicable and non-communicable disease screening and health management, mental health screening and management, common diseases, Out Patient Care and Management, Eye-Nose-Ear-Throat General Care, Oral Health Care, Geriatric Health Care Services and Emergency Medical Services are being provided in every health and wellness centers.
Yoga and wellness activities are also being conducted through these centers to make people aware of their health and well being. To provide universal primary health care and better health services to the people of the state, numerous Community Health Officers (CHOs) have been appointed in the Sub Health Center Health and Wellness Centers.
