
Raipur: Under the grand celebration of Pora-Teeja Tihaar organized at CM House, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel performed customary rituals and prayed to Lord Shiva and Nandishwar for the peace and prosperity of people of the state. On the occasion, the Chief Minister extended hearty greetings of this agricultural festival to people of the state. He greeted and welcomed all the guests at CM House with warm wishes of Teeja-Pora Tihaar.

He said that Teeja-Pora is the festival of farming, it is the festival of women. Renowned folk singer of Chhattisgarh and Vice-Chancellor of Khairagarh University Ms Mamta Chandrakar’s performance at this celebratory programme organized in CM House further added to the enthusiasm and zeal of the people.

Large number of women who had come to CM House to celebrate Teeja enjoyed her performance. The Chief Minister himself joined Tijaharin women in their festive dance.

After the memorable celebration of HarelinTihaar, special arrangements were made at the Chief Minister’s residence in Raipur to celebrate ‘Pora-Teja’ festival with grandeur. Games and questions-answers sessions based on local culture of Chhattisgarh were also organized. Thereafter, local artists and dance troupes staged their performances depicting various aspects of Chhattisgarhi culture.
On the occasion of Pora-Teeja Tihar, a large number of women from different parts of the state had reached Chief Minister’s residence, dressed in colorful attires. Extensive arrangements were made at CM House to make these ladies welcomed. This included the facility for makeup, applying henna and alata, and also a booth of bangles for the women. Women enthusiastically participated in many sports including Jalebi race, Matki dance, Kabaddi organized on this occasion.
Lord Shiva and Nandi are worshiped on the occasion of Pora-Teeja Tihar. Sisters from different places of the state were invited here for Teeja Mahotsav. On this occasion the rituals of eating Karu-Bhaat were performed by the sisters.
