GAD issues guidelines for Republic Day celebrations keeping possible Covid spread in mind

Republic Day will be celebrated in the state with Covidrestrictions in place as state government has issued directives for special precautions during the function on January 26 keeping in mind the possible spread of new variants of Corona. Social distancing, wearingmasks will be the major features of the Corona restrictions, read the state government restrictions. Instructions have also been given not to organize programmes involving for school children.

The main function of Republic Day will be organisedat the Police Parade Ground in the capital Raipurwhere Governor Anusuiya Uikey will take the salute of the parade by hoisting the flag at 9 am in this dignified ceremony. 

Meanwhile, the General Administration Department has written a letter to all department heads, divisional commissioners, collectors and chief executive officers of district panchayats for organizing the Republic Day celebrations asking them to take measures to follow Covid. 

According to the schedule, after the hoisting of the flag by the Governor in the main function and saluting the parade, a message will be broadcast to the people of the state. There will be a display of tableaux by various departments and institutions at the venue and there will also be a medal awarding ceremony. Contingents of CRPF, CISF, District Police Force, Jail Police, Home Guards, STF Commandos, BSF, ITBT and other armed forces will also participate in the state level parade. On the night of January 26, government and public buildings will be decorated with electric chandeliers and illuminated.

Chief Minister and Minister will be chief guest at district headquarters

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Assembly Speaker Dr Charandas Mahant, ministers and parliamentary secretaries of the government will participate in trhefunctions to be organised at district headquarters.

According to the GAD, the president of the district panchayat will hoist the flag at the district panchayat or tehsil level. Flag hoisting will be done by the chairman of the municipality-nagar panchayat in such municipality-nagar panchayat whose headquarter is not at the block headquarters. Flag hoisting is to be done by the sarpanch in panchayat headquarters and by the headman of the villages in big villages. Instructions have been given to sing the national anthem collectively after the flag hoisting. Heads of departments and offices will hoist the flag in their office buildings.

Earlier, mock drill was done at Ambedkar Hospital, District Hospital, Mana Civil Hospital in Raipur to deal with Corona. 

Shortage of staff in some places

State Health Minister T S Singhdeo witnessed the mock drill through video call. The Health Minister said that it was understood from the mock drill that they are fully prepared to deal with any emergency. There are adequate arrangements at all places even through medical staff is needed in some places. “We will arrange for that. All district collectors have also been asked to make better arrangements for hospitals in their districts’” Singhdeo said.

Number of patients had reached zero after two years and nine months in State

There was no corona patient in Chhattisgarh which happened after two years, nine months and two dayssome 22 days back. But this relief could not last even for a day as two new patients have been confirmed in Raipur after that report. The government is on alert due to the increase in corona cases in countries like China, Japan, America, South Korea and Brazil. Now the genome sequencing of the samples of these newly found patients will be done so that the variants of the virus can be detected. The first case of corona in Chhattisgarh came to light on March 18, 2020.
