Four family members, including two children, found hanging from tree in Bagicha

Jashpur Nagar: A Pahadi Korwa family in the Bagicha police station area has committed mass suicide. The bodies of four family members, including two children, were found hanging from a tree on Sunday morning. It is suspected that after hanging the children, the husband and wife also hanged themselves. The police, who were informed by the villagers, have brought down the bodies and sent them for postmortem.
According to police, the incident occurred in the Samarbahar Panchayat area of Bagicha police station. Rajuram Korva lived here with his wife Bhinsari Bai and their two children, four-year-old daughter Devanti and one-year-old son Devan Ram. The bodies of all four members were found hanging from an guava tree outside their house.
Bagicha police station sub inspector M.R. Sahni said that the cause of the suicide is not yet known. There is talk of a dispute with a neighbor over the collection of mahua, but nothing is clear yet. The family belongs to the protected tribal community of Pahadi Korwa, known as the adopted son of the President. This is the first incident of mass suicide in this community. Upon receiving information about the incident, Collector Ravi Mittal arrived at the scene and assured the affected family of all possible assistance.
Meanwhile, BJP district president Sunil Gupta has formed an investigation team in the case. The team includes District Panchayat President Rayamuni Bhagat, District Panchayat Members Gendabihari Ram, Savan Ram, Keshav Yadav, and Pandrapath Mahamantri Devalal Bhagat under the chairmanship of Rayamuni Bhagat. They have all visited the incident spot. Sunil Gupta has stated that the investigation team will meet with their relatives to find out the cause of the incident.
Administrative officials say that the deceased Pahadi Korwa family had a pucca house and a ration card. They also had an Ayushman card, and the house had access to electricity. The family was engaged in farming. The district administration had provided them with an Antyodaya ration card, and they also had a job card under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). They were also paid for their labor work. On March 19, 2023, the family was provided with 35 kilograms of rice, 2 kilograms of salt, 2 kilograms of chickpeas, and 1 kilogram of sugar at the government-approved fair price shop.
