During the question hour in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel raised the question of the use of paddy-rice beyond the lifting limit. Food Minister Dayaldas Baghel informed that the government will make a decision on this soon. BJP MLA Ajay Chandrakar said on this that this government will also follow the same system that the previous government used to do.
Baghel started his question with the lifting of paddy and depositing of rice in the central pool in the Kharif year 2024-25. On this, Food Minister Baghel said that the target is to deposit 69.72 lakh metric tons of rice, in lieu of which 9 lakh metric tons of rice have been deposited so far.
Congress MLA Sangeeta Sinha raised the issue of paddy purchase at support price in Sanjari Balod. She said that 2 crore 22 lakh 500.48 tons of paddy have been purchased at support price in her assembly constituency in 2024-25. What was the target set for paddy purchase in Sanjari Balod in 2024-25? Minister Baghel said that the target is not fixed, it is estimated.
On this, Congress MLA Sinha questioned why the purchase was less than the acreage. On this, Minister Dayaldas Baghel said that as much paddy as came from the farmers, was purchased.
