Chhattisgarh Health Minister T S Singhdeo has been appointed as deputy Chief Minister of the state four months ahead of the assembly elections in the state, apparently in an attempt to appease a faction and target the voters of Surguja which has been the stronghold of Singhdeo.
All India Congress Committee general secretary K C Venugopal has issued a letter to this effect on Wednesday after a crucial meeting of Chhattisgarh Congress held in Delhi to discuss poll strategies. The meeting was attended by AICC president MallikarjunaKharge and Rahul Gandhi.
