“Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign to be organized at Biodiversity Park in Atal Nagar on Thursday
To widely promote the campaign, the State Government’s Directorate of Public Relations has launched “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” Profile Picture Frame Campaign on social media.RaipurAn event under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (A Tree in the Name of Mother) campaign will be organized at the Biodiversity Park in Atal Nagar, Naya Raipur, in the presence of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. Saplings will be planted by the Chief Minister and all the guests on this occasion. The program will be presided over by Forest and Climate Change Minister Kedar Kashyap.The event will feature Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, members of the Cabinet, MP Brijmohan Agrawal, Abhanpur MLA Indra Kumar Sahu, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Additional Chief Forest Secretary Mrs. Richa Sharma, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Forest Force Chief V. Srinivas Rao, along with other public representatives, officials, members of the Forest Management Committee, students, and local villagers, who will also plant trees in the name of their mothers.It is noteworthy that the campaign was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Environment Day. Under this campaign, the target is to plant 800 million trees by September 2024 and 1.4 billion trees by March 2025 across the country.Under the mega tree planting campaign, the Chhattisgarh state Forest Department will plant 38.5 million saplings in forest and non-forest areas. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has called for naming the planting sites after local deities. Tree planting programs will be organized at the village and panchayat levels in all districts with the participation of public representatives. Fruit-bearing plants like mango, jamun, bel, jackfruit, custard apple, pomegranate, mulberry, ber, tendu, and gangoimli, as well as minor forest produce and medicinal species like harra, baheda, amla, neem, putranjiva, kala siris, soapnut, and chitrak, will be planted. In urban areas, shade-providing species like banyan, peepal, maulshree, kadam, peltaform, gulmohar, karanj, ashoka, and arjun will be planted. The mega tree planting campaign includes planting trees in all schools, hostels, anganwadi centers, police outposts, hospitals, government premises, government and non-government lands, and vacant land of various industrial institutions.The main objective of the campaign is to plant as many trees as possible to make Chhattisgarh green and maintain environmental balance. The campaign will involve the participation and support of all government departments, non-government organizations, voluntary organizations, all levels of panchayat institutions, students of schools and colleges, dignitaries, and public representatives.As per the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the nationwide campaign was commenced on International Environment Day. In the same sequence, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai planted a Rudraksh sapling in Raipur and a Dahiman sapling in his native village Bagia in honor of his mother. After downloading the framed profile picture, people can set it as their display picture on social media platforms such as WhatsApp, X, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. By adding the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” profile frame to their social media profile pictures, individuals can play a crucial role in raising awareness about environmental conservation and make a valuable contribution to this campaign.
