CPCC President Deepak Baij Writes to PM Urging Appointment of Senior BJP Leader from Chhattisgarh as Vice President

Raipur – With the post of Vice President lying vacant following Jagdeep Dhankhar’s resignation, the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to appoint a leader from the state to the prestigious position. PCC chief Deepak Baij has written to the Prime Minister, advocating for national-level representation for Chhattisgarh, which he says has been long overlooked.

In his letter, Baij recommended senior BJP leader and former Raipur MP Ramesh Bais, who has also served as Governor of Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and Tripura. Highlighting Bais’s extensive parliamentary and administrative experience, Baij argued that leaders of his calibre deserve recognition at the highest levels of government.

Despite electing 10 BJP MPs to the Lok Sabha, Chhattisgarh continues to be deprived of meaningful representation at the national level,” Baij wrote. “On behalf of the people of Chhattisgarh, I appeal that the state be given priority for the Vice President’s post.

Baij further noted that since the Modi government first came to power in 2014, Chhattisgarh has only been accorded representation at the level of Minister of State. He urged the BJP to elevate its deserving leaders from the state to more prominent roles.

Reacting to Baij’s letter, BJP leader Amit Chimnani said the party has always ensured representation for Chhattisgarh in various forums. However, he took a swipe at the Congress, accusing it of ignoring local leaders when it came to Rajya Sabha nominations and instead favoring outsiders for political convenience.
