CM Bhupesh Baghel pays tribute to Pt Ravi Shankar Shukla and Shaheed Vidyacharan Shukla on their birth anniversary

Raipur: Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel paid courteous floral tribute to the first Chief Minister of undivided Madhya Pradesh Pt Ravi Shankar Shukla and former Union Minister Shaheed Vidya Charan Shukla on their birth anniversary, at his residence office here today.

Baghel said that Pt Ravi Shankar Shukla had played a leading role in various national movements of Indian freedom struggle. He created mass awareness in Chhattisgarh regarding the independence movement of the country. Mr. Baghel said that Ravi Shankar was a good lawyer, great politician, an amazing speaker and a wonderful writer. He made a significant contribution to the merger of princely states after independence. He is also called the builder of modern Madhya Pradesh.

The Government of Chhattisgarh has instituted ‘Pt. Ravi Shankar Shukla Award’ in his memory to celebrate the innovative efforts in social, economic and educational fields. Ravi Shankar’s efforts and initiatives for the progress of Chhattisgarh and his role in maintaining social harmony in the state will be remembered forever.

 Remembering the contributions of Vidyacharan Shukla on the occasion, chief minister said that he was an efficient politician and a competent administrator. He represented Chhattisgarh for many years as a Minister to the Government of India. He rendered his valuable services in the Ministries of Communications, Home, Defence, Finance, Planning, External Affairs, and Parliamentary Affairs. As a Union Minister, he paved the way for the development of Chhattisgarh as well. Chhattisgarh will never forget the martyrdom of Vidya Charan ji in the Jhiram Valley Naxalite attack. His contribution to Chhattisgarh will always be remembered.
