Raipur: Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel has paid tribute to freedom fighter and first Chief Minister of undivided Madhya Pradesh, Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla on his death anniversary on 31 December. Chief Minister Baghel said that Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla was a popular mass leader and efficient administrator. During his tenure as chief minister, he played an important role in formulation and implementation of development schemes in various sectors including education, health and irrigation in Chhattisgarh region. Ravi Shankar played an active and leading role in many national movements during the freedom struggle. He created mass awareness against the British rule in Chhattisgarh and inspired people to cooperate in various movements of Gandhiji. Chhattisgarh government will continue to take forward the works of Ravi Shankar, Baghel said.
