CM Baghel honours retired finance department officials at felicitation ceremony held in Raipur

Raipur: Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday attended the ‘Samman Samaroh and Sneh Sammelan’ of the Chhattisgarh Financial Services Officers’ Association. He honored the finance department officials who had retired after 2015 in a programme organized at the auditorium of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in Raipur. He also launched the commemorative magazine ‘Sunidhi’ of the State Financial Services Officers’ Association.

While addressing the programme as the chief guest, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel emphasized the deep connection between finance and mental well-being. When finances are in order, the mind also finds tranquility. The Finance Department serves as the backbone of the entire state’s system, allocating funds according to the requirements of different sectors.

He heaped praise on the Finance Department for its commendable work in the state’s financial management. “The COVID-19 crisis presented a testing time for the state’s financial system, and even during those extreme times, the officials and employees associated with the financial service played a crucial role in managing the state’s economy. Despite the overall economic slowdown in the country, Chhattisgarh’s economy remained resilient and dynamic”, he said.

He added “I extend my heartiest congratulations to the officers honoured today. Restoration of the Old Pension Scheme was a long-standing demand of the state’s officials and employees. When we made the decision to implement the same, the Central Government adopted an uncooperative attitude. However, despite that, the scheme has been restored in the state due to the remarkable working efficiency of the Finance Department.”
Speaking at the programme, Finance Secretary Ankit Anand emphasized the crucial role of finance officers in the implementation of state government policies and schemes. He highlighted their responsible management of financial resources while adhering to the government’s directives.
