CM Baghel ensures swift progress on road projects, Stresses citizen convenience

Raipur: In a recent review meeting, chief minister Bhupesh Baghel instructed officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) to prioritize the improvement of road infrastructure post the rainy season. Stressing the significance of providing convenience to citizens, he urged the officials to maintain utmost diligence and coordination among concerned state agencies to expedite road construction projects across the state.
During the comprehensive review, Baghel discussed the progress of several ongoing projects in Raipur City, including the construction of a flyover at Telibandha, a road connecting Sharda Chowk to Tatyapara Chowk, the VIP road from Atal Expressway, and the development of Kharoon River Front. He particularly emphasized the importance of the 510-metre-long road from Sharda Chowk to Tatyapara Chowk, estimated at approximately Rs 137 crore. He urged officials to accelerate its implementation, including the construction process and land acquisition. He also scrutinized the advancement of projects such as the Telibandha overbridge and the Expressway-to-VIP Road overbridge during discussions with Public Works Department officials.
Expressing keen interest in timely project completion, chief minister directed officials to ensure swift progress on remaining road construction initiatives. According to officials, Public Works Department has successfully completed 292.2 kilometres of road construction out of the approved 332.7 kilometres in the Surguja region. The remaining 40.5 kilometres are slated for construction after the rainy season. In the Raigarh region, the department has completed 155.4 kilometres of roads. He urged officials to expedite the construction work in both regions, keeping in mind the convenience of the people.
Speaking on the occasion, Baghel highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and providing better road connectivity to citizens. He underscored the significance of well-maintained roads for economic growth and overall development. The proactive approach and emphasis on coordination among various state agencies reflect the government’s dedication to ensuring timely execution of road projects and enhanced public welfare.
PWD minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, education minister Ravindra Choubey, chief secretary Amitabh Jain along with other senior officials attended the meeting.
