Twelve children from Hyderabad Balaji Gurukul were discovered abandoned at Durg railway station. The children revealed they were en route to a yoga competition in Ambikapur without any accompanying guardian, raising concerns for Railway Security Force. The group, aged between 8 to 15 years, hailed from Assam, Nagaland, and Chhattisgarh.
The Railway Protection Force promptly handed them over to Child Line for care. Officials from the Gurukul have been summoned to Durg station with necessary documentation. The RPF team spotted the children during a routine search at platform number-4, where they were found unaccompanied. SK Sinha, the RPF Durg post in-charge, mentioned that the children identified themselves as students from the Hyderabad Gurukul, arriving via the Secunderabad-Raipur Express for the yoga event in Ambikapur. Hemlata Bhaskar, head of the Crime Investigation Branch, noted the diverse origins of the children, with some from Jharkhand, Nagaland, and Chhattisgarh. Notably, there were no adults accompanying the group, underscoring the potential risks involved. Quick action by the authorities averted a potential disaster.
