Chhattisgarh’s ‘Hamar Lab’ becomes a Model. Doctors and officials of Rajasthan and Karnataka did a study tour and appreciated the diagnostic services provided.

The ‘Hamar Labs’ in the District Hospitals and Community Health Centers of Chhattisgarh are an example for the country. Officials and doctors from other states are coming on a study tour of ‘Hamar Lab’ to set up such labs in their states. Recently, a team of doctors and officials from Rajasthan and Karnataka visited the lab and inquired about their infrastructure and working system. Teams of doctors and officials from NHSRC (National Health System Resource Center) New Delhi and Assam will also visit.

The State Health and Family Welfare Department are reinforcing the existing facilities and making the government hospitals more resourceful. The National Health Mission, Chhattisgarh, established the ‘Hamar Labs’ to provide facilities for various clinical tests at affordable rates in district hospitals and community health centres. The team from Rajasthan and Karnataka who visited ‘Hamar Lab’ appreciated the quality diagnostic services of the lab under one roof. ‘Hamar Lab’ has provided continuous services even during the pandemic. Organizations such as CDC, Zapigo, Path and the Clinton Foundation, working in the health field nationally and internationally, have also visited the ‘Hamarr Lab’ and lauded it.

Given the successful operation of ‘Hamar Lab’ in Raipur District Hospital, the government is also launching it in other districts. Nine district hospitals – Durg, Balod, Balodabazar, Kanker, Kondagaon, Bastar, Sukma, Bijapur and Balrampur and three Community Health Centers at Manpur, Patan and Palari have the ‘Hamar Lab’. Its establishment in FRU Community Health Centers is also under process.
The government has established the country’s first public health unit (Block Public Health Unit) community health centre at the block level in Patan. Different types of testing facilities are available to the patients through ‘Hamar Lab’. Hamar Lab of district hospitals conducts 120 types of tests and 50 in the lab of Community Health Centers.
