Chhattisgarh wins awards from the Union Minister of State for Health in New Delhi today.

Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has awarded three prizes to Chhattisgarh for its excellent work in Male Sterilization Pakhwada. During the male sterilisation fortnight, Chhattisgarh ranks first in the country in sterilisation between the last three years, 2019 to 2021. Union Minister of State for Health Dr Bharti Praveen Pawar rewarded the state for this achievement in a program organised in New Delhi today. Deputy Director of Family Planning Program Dr T.K. Tonder and Consultant Dr Roshan Gupta received this award on behalf of Chhattisgarh.

The state has received awards in two more categories for male sterilisation. Dr Sanjay Naval got the second prize at the national level for most vasectomy. Mitanin of Tilda, Raipur district, Kevara Verma has been awarded in the Couple Motivation category for male sterilisation. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Health Minister T.S. Singhdeo congratulated the Health Department and the National Health Mission team on this achievement.

Deputy Director of Family Planning Program Dr T.K. Tonder informed that during the last three years, 3212 male sterilisations got done in the state. During the male sterilisation fortnight, 1695 men have undergone sterilisation in the year 2019-20, 168 in the year 2020-21 and 1349 in the year 2021-22. He said that during the fortnight from the village level to the district level, through a campaign, the misconceptions and myths spread among the people regarding male sterilisation are dispelled. Men are motivated for sterilisation by organising “Mor Mitan Mor Sangwari” Choupal at the village level.
