Raipur : Cricket fans in Chhattisgarh have a reason to cheer as the state is set to host two high-profile IPL matches this season. The matches will be held at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Nava Raipur. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai confirmed that Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will play their matches in Raipur.
In a key meeting, RCB vice president Rajesh Menon and BCCI joint secretary Prabhtej Singh Bhatia called on Chief Minister Sai. Discussions focused on the organization of the IPL matches, including logistics, security arrangements, infrastructure, and coordination with the state administration.
CM Sai said that hosting matches of a prestigious tournament like the IPL in Chhattisgarh would strengthen the state’s national identity, bring top-level cricket closer to local fans, and inspire young talent. He assured that the state government would provide full support and ensure all necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the matches.
The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium has previously hosted major cricketing events, including IPL 2023 matches that were shifted from Dharamsala due to weather, earning praise for its pitch, outfield, and overall facilities. With a seating capacity of over 65,000 and modern infrastructure, the stadium is now one of Central India’s premier cricketing venues, also hosting international fixtures and domestic tournaments.
With IPL action returning to Raipur, the city is set to once again shine on India’s cricket map, promising packed stands, a festive atmosphere, and renewed enthusiasm for cricket across Chhattisgarh.
