The name of Chhattisgarh’s new Director General of Police (DGP) is almost finalised, with the tenure of current DGP Ashok Juneja set to end on February 5, 2025. Ahead of Juneja’s retirement, the state government had shortlisted names of senior IPS officers and sent a confidential proposal to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
The shortlisted officers include senior IPS officers Pawan Dev, Arun Dev Gautam, and Himanshu Gupta. According to sources, Arun Dev is currently leading the race to become the next DGP of Chhattisgarh. The announcement of the new DGP is expected soon.
Reliable sources from the Home Department revealed that the Chief Minister’s Secretariat had sent the relevant file to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) around 20 days ago. After the completion of the UPSC’s process, the file was returned to the state government, which has now nearly finalized its decision. The official announcement is expected shortly.
