Chhattisgarh is the only state in the country getting back the money of duped chit fund investors: CM Baghel

Raipur: Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday returned an amount of Rs 2.56 crore to 3, 274 duped chit-fund investors of Durg district, in a virtual programme organized at his residence office here.

Addressing the programme, chief minister said “an amount of about Rs 40 crore has been returned so far to the investors duped by chit-fund companies. The state government is taking strict action against the chit-fund companies in Chhattisgarh. The money is being returned to the investors by seizing the properties of fraudulent chit-fund companies. Chit fund companies in Chhattisgarh have been duping innocent people of large sums of money.  The state government making its best efforts to ensure that these investors get their money back. Chhattisgarh is the only state in the country which is giving back their money to these investors.”

Durg SP Abhishek Pallav said that so far 126 directors and 8 office bearers of chit fund companies have been arrested in the district.

Talking to the chief minister, Ghanshyam Sahu, a resident of Uparwara of Durg, said that he had invested money in the chit fund company by selling 2 acres of land. He did not expect that the money would be recovered. Expressing his gratitude towards chief minister, he said that he is getting Rs 9 lakh back with the efforts of the state government and his family is happy with this. Teejan Bai of Khursipar told chief minister that today I am getting Rs 3 lakh back. Now I will be able to get my children married easily. I was hopeful that my money would definitely be returned under your leadership.

Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey, Food Minister Amarjeet Bhagat, PHE Minister Guru Rudra Kumar along with other senior officials and beneficiaries attended the virtual programme.
