Chhattisgarh High Court Receives Bomb Threat; Madras Tigers for Ajmal Kasab Group Claims Responsibility

Raipur
The Chhattisgarh High Court received a bomb threat on Monday from an organisation identifying itself as ‘Madras Tigers for Ajmal Kasab’. The threat, sent via email to the High Court’s official website from the ID ‘abdia@outlook.com’, claimed that ammonium sulfur-based IEDs had been planted in the court premises.
Following the threat, the High Court premises were immediately evacuated, and an extensive search operation was launched by police and security agencies. Despite a thorough search involving sniffer dogs and bomb detection devices, no suspicious items were found. The incident falls under the jurisdiction of Chakrabhatha Police Station, which has registered a First Information Report (FIR) and initiated an investigation.
The threatening email, received on Monday afternoon as the High Court resumed work after its summer vacation, mentioned sensitive issues including the execution of Ajmal Kasab and the detention of certain individuals, terming it a ‘holy mission’. The message caused immediate alarm among court officials, including the Protocol Officer, who promptly informed police authorities.
This is not an isolated incident in Chhattisgarh. Two months ago, the Kawardha Collectorate office received a bomb threat via email from Kashmir, claiming RDX had been planted. Additionally, eight months prior, a flight from Bilaspur to Delhi also received a bomb threat.
