Chhattisgarh govt suspends IPS officer Ratan Lal Dangi over ‘indecent’ conduct

Raipur
The Chhattisgarh government on Thursday suspended senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Ratan Lal Dangi with immediate effect following allegations of misconduct and misuse of official position.
The 2003-batch officer, who was posted as Inspector General (IG) at the Police Headquarters in Nava Raipur, faces accusations of behaving in a manner unbecoming of a public servant. According to the official order issued by the Department of Home (Police), Dangi’s actions prima facie violated several provisions of the All India Services (Conduct) Rules, 1968, specifically Rules 3(1-a)(i), 2-b(vii), and 17-a(ii).

The state government noted that the officer’s alleged “immoral” acts were widely circulated on electronic and social media platforms. The order stated that such conduct has tarnished the image of the police department among the general public. It further held Dangi personally responsible for the actions and proposed departmental disciplinary proceedings against him.
“The state government, exercising powers conferred under Rule 3(1)(a) of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, hereby places Ratan Lal Dangi, IPS (2003), under suspension with immediate effect,” the order signed by Deputy Secretary D.S. Dhruve read.
During the suspension period, Dangi’s headquarters will be the Police Headquarters in Nava Raipur. He will be entitled to a subsistence allowance as per the rules but cannot leave the headquarters without prior permission from the competent authority.
