NIFT, one of India’s premier institutes in fashion design, management, and technology, was established in 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. It currently operates 17 campuses across the country, including those in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru. The upcoming campus in Naya Raipur will be the 18th, marking a proud achievement for Chhattisgarh.
The institute will offer undergraduate and postgraduate programs in fashion design, textile design, fashion management, and fashion technology. It will also provide students with vital industry exposure and placement opportunities through collaborations with leading fashion brands and companies.
The establishment of NIFT in Naya Raipur will enable students in Chhattisgarh to access world-class fashion education within their home state. By nurturing a technically skilled workforce, the institute will significantly strengthen the fashion and textile industry in the region. Additionally, the project is expected to generate local employment and spur economic development.
Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai emphasized the government’s commitment to providing the youth of Chhattisgarh with top-tier education and employment opportunities. He stated that the setting up of the NIFT campus in Naya Raipur would not only revolutionize fashion education in the state but also elevate Chhattisgarh to new heights of industrial and economic growth.
Already recognized as a smart city, Naya Raipur is now poised to become a prominent center for education and industry. With the establishment of the NIFT campus, it has the potential to emerge as a key hub for the fashion and textile sector. This initiative will not only strengthen the local economy but also enhance Chhattisgarh’s image on both national and international platforms.
