Chhattisgarh gears up to promote e-Governance through GoI’s OpenForge platform

Raipur: Chhattisgarh is gearing up to promote e-governance with the use of OpenForge software. This platform will enable departments to acquire software easily for monitoring their programmes and schemes, and for expanding their reach to the people.
A two-day long state-level training-cum-workshop has been organized by the Chhattisgarh Infotech Promotion Society (CHiPS) workshop at the New Circuit House here, where officers from various departments will be trained on the use of this platform. The main aim of the workshop is to provide the citizens of the state with the advantages of the latest information technology sector technologies.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the workshop on Monday, Amit Kumar, Community Development Manager at the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) in New Delhi, said that the “OpenForge” platform has been specifically designed to cater to the requirements of all government departments. He explained that the platform will provide access to numerous software applications, which can be used for the operation of public utility services offered by government departments. This will bring uniformity to various schemes being run across the country, while also saving valuable time and money for the government.
During the workshop, CHiPS Chief Executive Officer Amitabh Sharma stated that the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), functioning under the Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, will provide technical training for two days.
