State Legal Services Authority Takes Action to Prevent Workplace Harassment
Bilaspur, [5 August]: In a proactive move to curb incidents of sexual harassment of women in workplaces, the State Legal Services Authority (SALSA) has issued comprehensive directives to all District Legal Services Authorities. The aim is to ensure a safe and respectful environment for women employees across various sectors.
Anand Prakash Warial, Member Secretary of the State Legal Services Authority, shared that under the guidance of High Court Justice Gautam Bhaduri, the Executive Chairman of SALSA, the authority has formulated a comprehensive training module and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). The State Legal Services Authority has widely disseminated these guidelines to District Judges and Chairpersons of District Legal Services Authorities, directing them to conduct workshops and awareness programmes at the district and tehsil levels.
The workshops are designed to provide essential insights into relevant regulations, equipping attendees with the knowledge needed to effectively prevent incidents of workplace harassment. The initiative aims to empower women employees to carry out their duties without fear or compromise.
The workshops will be inclusive, inviting the participation of leaders from government, semi-government, and non-governmental sectors, as well as other stakeholders. This holistic approach is intended to foster a collective understanding and commitment to maintaining safe and respectful workplaces.
Anand Prakash Warial further highlighted that, as per the instructions of the Executive Chairman, each office, regardless of its nature (government, semi-government, or non-government), shall establish an internal complaint committee. This committee will serve as a proactive measure to swiftly address any incidents of sexual harassment.
By fostering awareness, imparting knowledge, and establishing a framework for prompt redressal, the State Legal Services Authority is taking a significant step towards ensuring safe and secure work environments for women. This initiative aligns with the broader mission of promoting gender equality and upholding the dignity of every individual in the workplace.
