Security Forces Eliminate 5 Naxalites on Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra Border Amid Election Disruption Plot

Security forces have reportedly killed 5 Naxalites on the Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra borders on Monday. 22 units of C60 Commandos and 2 units of QAT were out on a search operation in the Bhamragarh tehsil of the Gadchiroli area when they encountered Naxalites.
According to sources, several Naxalites were hiding in the forests of Bhamragarh in Koparshi taluka, allegedly plotting to disrupt the upcoming assembly elections. When the security forces reached the jungle, the Naxalites opened indiscriminate fire.
The police team asked the Naxalites to surrender and lay down their arms, but they continued firing. In retaliation, the forces killed 5 Naxalites. A search operation is ongoing in the area, and efforts are being made to identify the deceased Naxalites.
Two days ago, 2 ITBP soldiers were martyred in an IED blast in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh. Two Narayanpur police officers were also injured and were airlifted from the scene. The two martyred soldiers were from Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
A major encounter took place on October 3 in the village of Thulthuli, located in Narayanpur and Dantewada districts. In this encounter, 38 Naxalites were killed, and all have been identified. A bounty of ₹2.62 crore had been placed on them, with over 250 criminal cases filed against them. Among the slain was female commander Niti, alias Urmila, who alone had 60 cases across various districts, including 20 police-Naxalite encounters, 2 camp attacks, 6 IED blasts, and 3 arson cases.
