Rs 10,000 Crore National Highway Projects Approved for Chhattisgarh: CM Sai and Union Minister Gadkari Review Progress
Raipur
A national highway project worth Rs 10,000 crore has been approved for Chhattisgarh. Union Minister for Road Transport, Nitin Gadkari, has given approval for 14 new projects, and a detailed project report will be prepared. After that, construction work will begin soon.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai is currently on a visit to Delhi. On Monday, he attended a review meeting chaired by Minister Gadkari at Bharat Mandapam. The meeting focused on the progress of ongoing projects in Chhattisgarh and future plans. Chhattisgarh Deputy CM Arun Sao was also present.
Chief Minister Sai said that these projects will accelerate the economic and social development of the state. He emphasized that the Chhattisgarh government prioritizes road construction and will complete all projects in a timely manner.
Regarding the first phase of the Raipur-Visakhapatnam project, which was completed in four months, Minister Gadkari congratulated the Chhattisgarh government and its officials. The CM mentioned that weekly reviews are being conducted to ensure all projects are completed on time without any interruptions.
Before attending the Delhi meeting, CM Sai remarked that all the national highways and Bharatmala roads visible in Chhattisgarh today are contributions from the Indian government and Nitin Gadkari.
CM Vishnudev Sai had met Minister Gadkari earlier on July 19 this year, where he highlighted the need for large-scale road projects in Chhattisgarh. It is suggested that some of these projects have now been finalized, and they will be constructed by the National Highways Authority in Chhattisgarh.
These include the complete four-lane highway from Raipur to Jagdalpur and a direct 15-20 km bypass under Keshkal Ghat. After the bypass is built, there will no longer be a need to climb the Keshkal Ghat, and the bypass might include one or two tunnels, similar to major bypasses in the country. Additionally, the expansion of Ring Road-1 and Ring Road-2 in Raipur, along with the construction of at least three flyovers, is expected to be finalized in the meeting. Some inter-state roads may also be upgraded to four lanes.
