Raipur SSP Orders Zero-Tolerance Crackdown on Criminals and Drug Abuse in Late-Night Review Meeting
Raipur
Raipur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Dr. Santosh Singh, convened a late-night crime review meeting at the Control Room, which extended into the early hours. The meeting saw the unexpected summoning of police station in-charges and gazetted officers, who were directed to enforce stringent measures against criminals and ensure robust law enforcement.
Dr. Singh emphasized a zero-tolerance approach towards loiterers, listed gangsters, habitual offenders, and drug-related offenses, highlighting substance abuse as a root cause of most serious crimes. He ordered an intensified campaign against public drug consumption and drunk driving, aiming to instill fear among violators.
Key directives issued during the meeting included:
- Revoking bail of habitual offenders and initiating strict cases under the National Security Act (NSA).
- Enforcing preventive measures, including district-level exile of repeat offenders.
- Seizing the properties of absconding criminals.
The SSP also prioritized increased night patrolling, with a focus on crime-sensitive areas identified based on data analysis. Officers were instructed to engage with local communities through meetings to foster trust and cooperation in combating crime.
Additionally, Dr. Singh stressed the need for swift police action during incidents to apprehend culprits and create a strong deterrence. He called for expedited filing of charge sheets to deliver justice promptly and directed officers to reduce case pendency to its lowest by year-end.
The SSP’s firm stance aims to enhance public safety, deter criminal activity, and restore community confidence in law enforcement.
