Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee president and ruling party MLA Mohan Markam on Monday cornered his own government on the district mineral Foundation fund alleging embezzlement in the fund. This promoted opposition BJP to demand the resignation of the minister concerned.
During the Question Hour of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Markam raised the issue which was hijacked by the opposition members to corner the Congress government.
As soon as the proceedings of the budget session started after Holi holidays, Markam surrounded his own government during the question hour. He accused of misappropriating the distribution of DMF funds in Kondagaon.
Markam asked Minister Ravindra Choubey, will he get an inquiry done in this. Whether the construction agency is doing the work of supply? Seven crore DMF money has been embezzled, Markam alleged, adding an officeris involved in it.
On this, the member of the opposition Shivratan Sharma said that the Congress state president himself is leveling the allegations and therefore the minister should resign on this.
Leader of Opposition Narayan Chandel said that DMF irregularities are happening in the entire state. In reply, minister Rudra Guru said everybody knows what has happened in the 15 years of BJP rules.
Meanwhile, parliamentary affairs minister Choubey said that the matter is serious and the Speaker has also expressed concern over it.
Choubey also attacked the opposition and said that the DMF rules were framed in BJP government. Still he assured the House of an investigation in to the matter.
Expelled JCC-J MLA Dharamjit Singh also stood in support of Markam.
Minister Choubey said that he will instruct the officer to get the investigation done within one month and action will be taken if the complaint is found true.
As soon as the proceedings of the House started, tribute was paid to the late MP Sohan Potai.
