Jashpur: Rural women charting the path to self-employment through the National Rural Livelihood Mission’s Bihan Yojana

Raipur: In Jashpur, a remarkable transformation is underway, driven by the Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission Bihan as part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission. This initiative is reshaping the lives of rural women, offering them opportunities, skills, and a path to self-empowerment through self-help groups. In the quiet villages and rural landscapes, women are finding their voices and their independence through self-help groups. These groups are more than just gatherings; they are pathways to empowerment and self-reliance. Through essential training, women are honing their skills and connecting with self-employment opportunities, opening doors to a brighter future.

One such example is of Shri Ganesh Self-Help Group of Manora Gram Panchayat of Jashpur. Comprising of 10 members, this group has ventured into fish farming. With a bank linkage of Rs 3 lakh secured through the Bihan scheme, these women have been practising fish farming for three years. The group’s efforts have borne fruit as they have sold an impressive 18 quintals of fish, earning a substantial revenue of Rs 3.60 lakh. Their story is a testament to the power of determination, resilience, and the opportunities created by programmes like Bihan Yojana. Their achievements have become a source of inspiration for women in neighbouring villages and self-help groups.
