Health dept will provide dialysis services at 27 district hospitals in the state

Raipur: In a bid to expand healthcare facilities, the Health Department will now provide dialysis services at 27 district hospitals in the state. Patients with kidney diseases will now receive free dialysis treatments at their district headquarters, eliminating the need to travel to other cities. Frequent dialysis poses significant financial burdens, particularly for patients from remote areas. The provision of local, cost-free dialysis has brought immense relief to affected individuals and has alleviated the financial strain associated with their condition.

Under the supervision of health and family welfare minister TS Singh Deo, the Health Department has successfully established dialysis services in 27 district headquarters and Devbhog Community Health Centre through the National Health Mission, Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme ‘Jeevan Dhara’, and District Mineral Trust Fund (DMF) of the state. Through the ‘Jeevan Dhara’ program, the state government has established dialysis services at various district hospitals, including Durg, Kanker, Bilaspur, Mahasamund, Korba, Surguja, Jashpur, Bijapur, Raipur, Janjgir, Jagdalpur, Gariaband, Mungeli, Dhamtari, Balodabazar, Baikunthpur, Surajpur, Kawardha, Rajnandgaon, Balod, Bemetara, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, and Sukma District Hospitals and Devbhog Community Health Centre.

A significant milestone has been achieved with the installation of 106 dialysis machines across 24 hospitals, resulting in 87,321 successful dialysis sessions held in these hospitals. In the previous fiscal year of 2022–23, a remarkable 46,679 dialysis sessions were conducted for patients with kidney diseases in these hospitals. Further expansion has been carried out by the installation of dialysis machines funded by the District Mineral Trust Fund in Dantewada, Balrampur, Raigarh, and Kondagaon district hospitals. Presently, Dantewada district hospital is operating four machines, while Balrampur and Raigarh district hospitals are operating three in each hospital, and Kondagaon district hospital is operating one dialysis machine to serve patients in need.
