In a series of new appointments, the Chhattisgarh government has appointed prominent leaders to key positions in the state’s development authorities. The General Administration Department issued the formal orders.
Along with these appointments, Guru Khushwant Saheb has been appointed Vice-Chairperson of the Scheduled Castes Development Authority, and Lalit Chandrakar, MLA from Durg Rural, has been named Vice-Chairperson of the OBC Development Authority. Pranav Marpachi, the MLA from Marwahi, has also been appointed as Vice-Chairperson of the Central Region Authority. Additional appointments are expected to follow shortly.

Key Appointees and Their Backgrounds:
Gomati Sai
At 45, Gomati Sai has had a distinguished political career within the BJP. She has previously served as a Member of Parliament and is known for her strong leadership in the tribal Kanwar community. Her journey in politics began as the President of the District Panchayat in Sarguja, and her appointment is seen as a strategic move to further bolster the BJP’s tribal outreach in the region.

Lata Usendi
Lata Usendi, who held the portfolio of Women and Child Development during the previous BJP government, has been entrusted with the responsibility of the Bastar Development Authority. Although there was earlier speculation that she might return to a ministerial position, Usendi has accepted this influential role, which will allow her to continue making an impact in the tribal-dominated Bastar region.

Guru Khushwant Saheb
A young leader from the Satnami community, 35-year-old Khushwant Saheb brings with him fresh energy and influence. The son of Sant Satnami Guru Bal Das, Saheb played a pivotal role in defeating a prominent Congress leader in the Arang region. His appointment is seen as an effort to solidify the BJP’s standing within the Satnami community, which holds significant political weight in the state.

Lalit Chandrakar
Lalit Chandrakar, the MLA from Durg Rural, has been given charge of the OBC Development Authority. With a B.Com degree and a solid political background, Chandrakar has been a prominent figure in the BJP’s youth wing and has taken on various leadership responsibilities in the Durg area. His appointment aligns with the party’s focus on strengthening ties with the influential Kurmi community.

Pranav Marpachi
Pranav Kumar Marpachi, the Marwahi MLA, comes from the Gond tribe and has a background in the armed forces. Having joined the BJP in 2014, Marpachi has previously served as Vice-Chairperson of the Scheduled Castes Development Authority. His experience with the SC/ST wing of the party adds further value to his new role in the Central Region Authority.

These appointments reflect the Chhattisgarh government’s efforts to balance regional and caste representation within its development authorities, ensuring that key communities have a voice in governance and development.
