Free dialysis facility for kidney patients in 27 district hospitals of the state

Raipur. With the continuous expansion of health services, 27 district hospitals in the state now have dialysis facilities. Due to this, patients suffering from kidney diseases are now getting free dialysis facilities at their district headquarters. Patients suffering from kidney disease have had to undergo frequent dialysis for a long time which is a financial burden. Due to the availability of a free dialysis facility at the local level, patients have now received great relief.
On the initiative of Health and Family Welfare Minister T.S. Singhdeo, dialysis facilities have been started in 27 district headquarters and the Devbhog Community Health Center from the National Health Mission, the Prime Minister’s National Dialysis Program ‘Jeevan Dhara, and the District Mineral Trust Fund (DMF). Durg, Kanker, Bilaspur, Mahasamund, Korba, Sarguja, Jashpur, Bijapur, Raipur, Janjgir, Jagdalpur, Gariaband, Mungeli, Dhamtari, Balodabazar, Baikunthpur, Surajpur, Kawardha, Rajnandgaon, Balod, Bemetara, Gorela—under ‘Jeevan Dhara, Dialysis facilities are being provided at Pendra-Marwahi and Sukma District Hospitals and Devbhog Community Health Center.
Hundred and six dialysis machines are available in these 24 hospitals, where 87 thousand 321 dialysis sessions have been done so far. In the last financial year, these hospitals conducted 46,679 dialysis sessions for patients suffering from kidney diseases. The District Mineral Trust Fund has funded the installation of dialysis machines in four other district hospitals across the state, namely Dantewada, Balrampur, Raigarh, and Kondagaon. In Dantewada, there are four dialysis machines, while Balrampur and Raigarh each have three, and Kondagaon has one.
