Congress State Election Committee Concludes Meeting, Candidate List Awaited by BJP
The State Election Committee meeting at Rajiv Bhawan discussing the candidate list has concluded. The screening committee is scheduled to reconvene at 10 p.m. with the presence of state in-charge Kumari Selja, CM Bhupesh Baghel, Deepak Baij, and TS Singhdeo. Committee Chairman Ajay Maken, along with members Neeta D’Souza and Hanumanth, will participate in the virtual meeting. The meeting will focus on the final names for the election committee, and the ultimate list will be forwarded to the Central Election Committee.
When asked about the finalisation of the Congress list, Kumari Selja clarified that the Central Election Committee holds the authority for finalisation, and the decisions rest with them. The CEC will release the official list, and once they approve it, the candidate list will become clear.
Regarding the simultaneous release of all seats, Selja emphasised that the Congress follows its own timeline and approach, regardless of the BJP’s actions. It’s a concerted effort, and changes in candidate selections are a natural part of every election for various reasons. In response to whether the BJP is eagerly anticipating the Congress list, Kumari Selja commented that they are indeed concerned—not impatient, but genuinely concerned.
